Re-use

Supporting our local prison and homeless community
We have donated an embroidery machine to Horfield Prison in Bristol. We also donate our obsolete / end of line stock (fleeces, waterproof jackets etc) and any corporate logos are over-badged by the inmates. This provides the inmates a working routine and a sense of purpose, as the garments are distributed to Bristol’s homeless community through the charity BOSH. You can find out more about BOSH here.
Longer term, we are hopeful that this will provide employment opportunities with Mathias for the inmates who have acquired the embroidery skills and experience as a result of this project.

The Process
- Embroidery machines are donated to HMP Bristol
- Embroidery training is provided to inmates
- Old stock (fleeces, waterproofs etc) also donated to the prison
- Inmates overbadge garments with BOSH logo
- BOSH distribute garments to homeless people in Bristol.
Reusing resources is better for the environment than recycling, and this project is benefitting our homeless community as well as providing prison inmates with important skills and a sense of purpose.
